09.27.08 - Recording Session with Jim Vest

Ryan singing while the music tracks to his songs are being recorded at Funhouse Studio on Music Row

I had the time of my life this past Saturday, laying down the tracks for 6 songs to be put on my new CD. I recorded with Jim Vest, Producer on Independent Label, BSW Records. We worked in the ‘Funhouse Studio’ in downtown Nashville. My musicians were incredible! I was so amazed at how fast they were able to learn the songs and make them come to life! They were only given the charts moments before they walked in. Most of the songs were done on the first take. I guess that’s why they’re called Studio Musicians. I cannot thank you guys enough. What an honor! The experience alone was enough for me to believe that I was dreaming. Then, after my session was over, in walks Paul Overstreet and Scotty Emerick to do their own session. See, I told you - More Stars…. I was honored to be able to meet Paul and get a picture with him. You know Scotty as songwriter and guitar player for Toby Keith. Man, what a day! I’ve been listening to the tracks over and over since I got a rough copy on Sunday. I can’t get over it. I’m still amazed at how well they turned out. Now it’s my turn. From here, I will go to another studio with Jim in Hendersonville, TN, and start laying down my vocals on the tracks beginning this Thursday. Very exciting! Stay tuned…….

09.23.08 - It’s Hard Not To Be In Awe…..

September 23rd, 2008 by Ryan

Ryan with Paul Overstreet at the Funhouse Studio on Music row - where Ryan’s music tracks to his songs were recorded

It’s so hard not to be in awe of the many singers/celebrities I come across down here. I mean, I’m just not used to seeing so many famous people in the same room or building as me. I try to control myself, but I can’t help it. I know I live in Nashville, and should expect it, but I just wanna jump up and down for instance, when I walk right by Deana Carter or Wynonna in the Airport, or when Jason Michael Carroll is sitting right across from me at the Nashville Palace. Or for example, when I get to meet T.G. Sheppard at the Cracker Barrel in Hendersonville, when I simply went there to have lunch, or when I go to a songwriter’s night at the Bluebird and get to meet and take a picture with Rebecca Lynn Howard. In the short time I’ve been here, I’ve seen all those people, plus gotten Naomi Judd’s autograph when she was a judge for ‘Can You Duet,’ saw Wade Hayes in a surprise performance from a few rows back at Marcy Jo’s Restaurant in Columbia, TN, saw Josh Turner in an up-close and personal show at the Mercy Lounge, AND of all things, got to meet Brenda Lee when she was attending the same church service as me. Oh yeah, and did I mention that I work with a certain Ernest Tubb Jr. at FedEx? Now not many can say that. Wow! That’s quite a few big names in just a short period of time. The opportunites are endless down here. And I’m looking forward to meet many more stars!!
